With over 30 years of experience in the landscaping industry, Toussaint Clay integrates a rich artistic background with a profound commitment to sustainable design. His journey began in high school, where he majored in architecture and graphic design, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors.

In his early years, Toussaint was an active member of "The WOW Crew," a collective of graffiti artists who played a pivotal role in transforming Portland into the renowned hub for artistic murals that it is today. Known by the moniker "Acme," he became a well known highly respected part of the brilliant tapestry that made up Portland's  vibrant street art scene.

Toussaint's artistic journey took a transformative turn when he became one of the original interns at the Bullock's Permaculture Homestead on Orcas Island, recognized as one of North America's most prominent permaculture sites. Over two decades, he worked closely with the Bullock brothers, gaining unparalleled insights into sustainable and symbiotic systems. This extensive and unique hands-on experience provided him with a depth of knowledge not easily acquired through traditional means.

At the Bullock's Permaculture Homestead, Toussaint immersed himself in the development of diverse ecosystems, including gardens, nurseries, wetland edges, and hillside plantings. This work emphasized the creation of edges and wildlife habitats, the movement of water through the landscape, and the promotion of biodiversity. 

Toussaint's unique approach to landscape design harmoniously blends his artistic sensibilities with permaculture principles. He focuses on creating sustainable and symbiotic systems that not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of outdoor spaces but also promote ecological balance. His designs are characterized by their unique quality and texture, reflecting his background as a graffiti artist and his deep understanding of natural systems.
