At Acme Symbiotic our primary goal is to create innovative and visionary landscapes with the potential to save our clients from making infrastructure decisions that they are later forced to revise due to oversights that could be avoided with the insight of experts that have decades of installation and homesteading experience. If you have ever experienced the frustration of spending precious time and using expensive materials only to end up tearing them out and revising a project after practical experience reveals an oversight or failure the appeal of making logistical errors on paper whilst experimentiong with multiple aesthetic and practical themes may be immediately clear to you. For those that aren't so readily convinced that conceptual work is worth the initial financial investment here are some examples of ways concepts can equal conservation of time, money, and resources, and lead to a better outcome.
This project is located at a residence where the family was desperately seeking an alternative to the proposals from local landscapers they were getting. In the winter their back yard was a virtual lake, cutting off all winter access from them, their pets, and children. The only proposals to remedy the situation were all over 20,000.00, requiring removal and reinstallation of driveway to run d
Our custom made sump injection system was made mostly of wrapped drain rock with a central heavy duty 50 gallon enclosed can and lid with hundreds of holes in it for water dispersion. All gutters were connected to the french style drain and we are revealing one of our most closely guarded trade secrets here as an example of how we are able to enhance our clients landscapes and in the same action
Adjacent is one of our favorite examples of how well planned and executed design contributions can outperform endless resources aimlessly exhausted in trivial landscape features. For decades this structure stood in stark contrast to it's surroundings as a harsh reminder of the brutal and thoughtless clearcut that took place to make room for it. Our founder was always bothered by it when passing
With the simple placing and planting of 3 Italian Cypress trees this home went from being something of an eyesore to being much closer to the cozy water view estate it has the potential to be. Our experience with planting large trees that can then grow to be this size and even bigger gives us the unique ability to create instant privacy screens, wind breaks, and sound barriers. At the time these
Here is a garden path that has just had synthetic weed barrier removed. Under it was a solid mat of roots as with most landscape cloth it simply became a safe haven for the roots of running weeds and grasses because there is no way to chase weeds under landscape cloth once it has killed the initial weeds targeted in it's first couple of years.
Experience has proven that a compostable weed barrier is far superior to synthetic cloth. It provides the same function as killing targeted weed populations in it's first couple of years, then after that there is no trace left behind and even improved soil due to increased biological activity.
This technique can save thousands of dollars on the cleanup of old synthetic materials left behind in the landscape long after they have outlived their original purpose.
A simple herb spiral can be a fun, easy, and cost effective feature added to any landscape. Placed near the kitchen it is an engaging way to interact with your landscape regularly. Each side and level has different sun exposure and moisture levels to accommodate a variety of culinary herbs.
Over the years we have done a number of low budget installations with locally available and abundant materials. Now bonded and insured, we hope to have some higher end pictures to add to the site soon.
This piece was designed to be integrated into the landscape as an otter sliding down a slope. Though it was engineered to withstand weather, the clients decided they wanted it to be an indoor piece more regularly appreciated in their daily lives. At the time this was carved it was sold for around 2500.00. Done today it would cost more, but it would also have the benefit of our added experience.
